Please note that the above property shall be let to you for the purpose of enabling you to attend a
designated course of study at the University of Sunderland. Paragraph 8 of the schedule 1 of the Housing
Act 1988 applies to this tenancy which is thus not an assured tenancy within the meaning of the Act. In
other words you do not acquire security of tenure.
ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER OF ACCOMMODATION
You have been offered accommodation as detailed above. In order to secure this offer you must
send the £200.00 booking fee with one copy of this form or pay the £200.00 into the University bank
account. If you pay your fee into the bank account please send us a copy of the payment receipt
with one copy of the signed acceptance letter. It is not possible to pay your pre-booking fee as
part of your direct debit mandate.
Please note that this offer will be held for you until the expiry date as detailed above. After that date
we will be unable to guarantee you this accommodation.
If you wish to accept the offer of accommodation as detailed above please sign and return one
copy of this contract together with your booking fee. Please retain the other copy for your
information. On receipt of the signed acceptance letter and booking fee you will be sent a letter of
confirmation .If you do not take up your room within 10 days of the contract start date without
notifying us of the reason: the room will be reallocated. Accommodation may still be provided to
you but this room can not be guaranteed (dependant on availability).
Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, we are required to provide
you with the following information if we have not met you before entering into a contract with you.
You have the right to cancel your contract by giving us written notice (by email, fax or post) within
7 working days, beginning on the day after the contract becomes binding (from the date on the
letter of confirmation).
"Your right to cancel does not apply once we have started to provide the accommodation to you: after you
move in, it is too late to cancel, so if you agree to this contract and then choose to leave University
accommodation you are still required to pay the full fee for the year."
When paying, indicate clearly "For Acommodation". You can pay your fees in full by cheque,
travellers' cheques in sterling, master card, visa, switch, cash or set up a direct debit to be paid in
3 instalments. All Accommodation transactions fall under the University financial regulations.
