Facing Stress
Good morning! Ladies and gentlemen. I’m ***. I come from ** Middle School. Today, it’s honored for me to have this opportunity to share some thoughts with all of you at this moment.
As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of relaxation. Once you are in the habit of rushing through life, being on the go from morning till night, it is hard to slow down. But relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body.
Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health.
The amount of stress a person can withstand depends very much on the individual. Some people are not afraid of stress, and such characters are obviously prime material for managerial responsibilities. Others lose heart at the first signs of unusual difficulties. When exposed to stress, in whatever form, we react both chemically and physically. In fact we make choice between “flight or fight” and in more primitive days the choices made the difference between life or death. The crises we meet today are unlikely to be so extreme, but however little the stress, it involves the same response. It is when such a reaction lasts long, through continued exposure to stress, that health becomes endangered. Such serious conditions as high blood pressure and heart diseases have established links with stress. Since we cannot remove stress from our lives it would be unwise to do so even if we could, we need to find ways to deal with it.

随着生活节奏持续加快,我们也正迅速地丧失着休闲的艺术.生活中,你一旦养成了行色匆匆,从早到晚都在奔波中的习惯,就很难慢下来.但是对于身心健康来说,休闲是很必要的. 压力是日常生活中很自然的一部分,无法避免.事实上,压力并不像人们常常想象的那样是件坏事.一定的压力能给人以动力,能赋予人生活的意义.只有压力失控时,才会导致人们表现不佳,身体不好.
一个人能承受的压力很大程度上取决于个人.有些人不害怕压力,很明显,那样的性格是管理职责的重要因素.而其他人一碰到不同寻常的困难就灰心丧气.当我们面对任何形式的压力时,我们会做出化学和物理的反应.事实上,我们就是在“逃避”与“战斗”之间做出选择.而在早期,这样的选择就是生与死的差别.我们现在碰到的危机不可能会像那样极端.但是不管压力多么小,它涉及到的是同样的反应.只有持续地面对压力而且长时间地对压力作出反应时,个人的健康才会受到威胁.一些严重的疾病,像高血压,心脏病等就与压力有关.既然我们无法摆脱生活中的压力,(即使我们能够那样做,摆脱压力也是不明智的),我们就必须找到方法来缓解压力.
