第一个，一般来讲，大家讲话时都会说“如果你不想去游泳，你也可以在家待着”。不会说“如果你不想去游泳，你也能在家待着”。can一般是强调能否做一件事情， 例如you can do something/ you cant do something, because it is very dangerous.
第二个，同样道理，按照一般正常说话习惯，会说“他两个小时前开始做的话，他现在应该就完成论文了”，而不会说“他两个小时前开始做的话，他现在必须完成论文了”。Must,一般是比较强硬的感觉，例如，你必须要做什么；你必须完成某事。
总的来讲，can和must在说话时会带有一些说话人的主观成份在里面，是比较硬的词。
