The patented printing technology of Cellergy-based on conventional printing techniques-enables automatic construction of supercapacitors,that are now manufactured in large wafers of EDLC that are cut into final dimensions.Automatic machine was developed and built by Cellergy,which reduces human resources needed for this stage of fabrication,and making supercapacitors more affordable for new applications,were the high price of supercapacitors was a limit.The basis of the technology is a printable aqueous electrode paste,based on a high surface area activated carbon,which is printed as an electrode matrix structure on an electronically conductive film.The electrodes are then encapsulated with a porous ionic conducting separator and another electrode matrix is then printed on the separator.This bipolar printing process is repeated as many times as required,enabling tailoring of the product to the specifications of the end user.
